UNC Charlotte expands digital presence to TikTok
UNC Charlotte will add TikTok to its digital portfolio on Thursday, April 9, using the platform as a key tool for discovery and engagement with prospective students.
Approach
Managed by University Communications, the account will focus on high-impact, student-centered storytelling that authentically reflects the energy, pride and differentiators of the Charlotte experience.
The University will first focus on building a strong, cohesive flagship presence, evaluating performance, audience engagement and overall impact before considering expansion to additional accounts.
Guidance and Governance
To ensure a unified brand, the University is following a phased, centralized rollout.
- Account Creation
To maintain a consistent voice, units and departments are requested to not create new TikTok accounts at this time. - Advertising
Paid social media advertising must be coordinated through University Communications to ensure strategic
alignment. This applies across all platforms, not just TikTok. - Policy Compliance
To ensure a consistent and aligned presence, all official social media accounts representing the University must be
reviewed and approved through University Communications.
For questions regarding TikTok advertising, account strategy or brand standards, please contact the University Communications team at socialmedia@charlotte.edu. Social media strategy and execution is led by Kay Turner, director of social media.
As we launch and grow this presence, we will showcase the people, stories and momentum that define Charlotte and reflect a university on the rise. Faculty and staff are encouraged to follow the account and help amplify content across existing channels. Follow UNC Charlotte on TikTok at @unccharlotte or visit www.tiktok.com/@unccharlotte.
