Faculty / Staff Announcements
- Register to attend University Convocation, Thursday, Aug. 15, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 340. Light refreshments will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the program at 10 a.m.
- Beginning today, Thursday, Aug. 1, fleet services will transition to a new management software, FASTER. You will be able to submit your vehicle’s preventive maintenance or repairs through the new FASTER customer portal, located in ARCHIBUS and FM311.
- Some anonymous social media apps will be blocked on University devices and the campus network starting Friday, Aug. 2, per a new UNC System Office regulation.
- Zoom AI Companion is available to UNC Charlotte faculty, staff and students beginning Wednesday, Aug. 7. This is an AI-based digital assistant that integrates real-time capabilities and assistance to help users improve their productivity when using specific Zoom products.
- Innovate your teaching this fall with faculty workshops offered Aug. 12-30. Join the Center for Teaching and Learning to explore high-impact, innovative teaching strategies and support new faculty onboarding. View the schedule and register!
- Prepare for the launch of Concur next week by reviewing this helpful information, and don’t forget to register for August training opportunities to get familiar with the new travel and expense management tool.
- Please note that some lanes will be closed on Cameron Boulevard at Highway 49 from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. over the next several weeks as Piedmont Natural Gas replaces a damaged underground gas line.
- CAPTRUST Financial Advisors, the independent advisory firm that works on the UNC Retirement Programs, will conduct phone consultations Wednesday, Aug. 14, and Thursday, Aug. 15. Topics covered in the 45-minute individual advisory sessions include, but are not limited to, retirement and general financial planning, investment education and advice.
- Participate in the upcoming webinar “Reframing Social Anxiety: How to Deepen Your Connections,” provided by Headspace at noon or 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15.
- Learn how to make your Google Drive videos more accessible by adding captions.
- Call for Nominations: 49er Alumni Campus Employee Awards honor the achievements of our 49er ACEs and the loyalty members have brought to our University. Nominate a deserving member by Sunday, Sept. 15.
- The Office of International Programs encourages faculty researchers to apply for a research exchange grant through the Baden-Württemberg/North Carolina Faculty Mobility Program. The application deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Preseason accolades continue to roll in for Charlotte defensive back Dontae Balfour, who, on Wednesday, July 30, was named to the watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top defensive back.
