“Unstoppable momentum” was the phrase of the day at yesterday’s University Convocation as Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber celebrated key successes from the 2023-24 academic year and outlined priorities for the upcoming one.
Faculty and staff announcements
- Craver Road will be closed from 1 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, for the New Student Welcome and Chancellor’s Cookout.
- Reminder: The 2023-24 Telework/Remote Agreement cycle ends Aug. 31. Please be reminded that all existing agreements must be reviewed and renewed for the 2024-25 academic year.
- With the change to Aetna as the State Health Plan’s third-party administrator, effective Jan. 1, 2025, employees can now use the “Find a Provider” tool to see if their current providers are in network and available as a Clear Pricing Project provider.
- Need help preparing your syllabus? Want to maximize the power of Canvas? Register for workshops offered through the Center for Teaching and Learning’s “Innovate Your Teaching Series” running through Aug. 30.
- The Office of Undergraduate Research is accepting submissions for faculty project descriptions for the spring 2025 OUR Academic Year Research Program.
- Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber will host four Breakfast with the Chancellor sessions for faculty and staff during the 2024-25 academic year, starting Thursday, Sept. 5.

The National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering has awarded UNC Charlotte researchers in the College of Computing and Informatics an R01 grant to develop point-of-care mobile health technology to reduce heat and pesticide-induced farmworker health disparities.
