Support the Workplace Community Giving Campaign

Categories: Faculty/Staff

Faculty and staff have the opportunity to support the Workplace Community Giving Campaign, benefitting the Arts and Science Council and the State Employees Combined Campaign, Oct. 7-18.

Join campaign co-chairs Dean José Gámez, College of Arts + Architecture, and Chris Smith, associate vice chancellor for student affairs, to support more than 785 participating charities in our community through an outright gift or payroll deduction pledge.

Due to the unforeseen devastation from Hurricane Helene affecting the broader communities in Western North Carolina, the State Employees Combined Campaign has provided a list of vetted charities supporting hurricane relief. Consider supporting one or more of the following charities: United Way NC; United Way, Asheville Buncombe County; American Red Cross-NC; Asheville Humane Society via payroll deduction or an outright gift.

“In order to become and remain the ‘city’s university,’ I believe we must intentionally plant seeds of generosity throughout the greater Charlotte region and share in the responsibility of cultivating a positive culture of growth,” said Smith. “This is why I am proudly supporting this year’s campaign.”

During this campaign, Charlotte employees can make a big difference:

  • $1/paycheck ($24) can provide a family with essential needs after a disaster
  • $10/paycheck ($240) can provide 25 middle schools with monthly virtual arts education
  • $20/paycheck ($500) can provide six months of PTSD therapy for a veteran

“This campaign gives me an opportunity to both support our great staff here at UNC Charlotte and to connect with and support organizations in the community that I deeply value,” said Gámez. “This is a unique opportunity to impact the lives of fellow Niners and North Carolinians.”
