NIners Care: Hurricane relief fund

UNC Charlotte has established the Niners Care: Hurricane Relief Fund to aid sister campuses most affected by Hurricane Helene — UNC Asheville, Appalachian State University and Western Carolina University. If you wish to contribute, you can do so online or at the home football game Saturday, Oct. 5, between Gates 1 and 2.

  • Niners Up for a People’s Choice Award: Two UNC Charlotte Klein College of Science students are nominated as team finalists in the Collegiate Inventors Competition, and for a People’s Choice Award. Please vote for “Color-Metric Sensing” once per day through 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct 16.
  • Annual Legal Symposium: The Division of Institutional Integrity’s annual Legal Symposium is Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons. This event will feature interesting and timely legal topics for faculty and staff. Submit an RSVP form.
  • Blood Drive: Student health is partnering with the American Red Cross for a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Cone University Center.
  • New Gen AI Tool Available: Google Gemini with Data Protection, a new Generative AI tool is now available! Learn to access this tool and about some of its key features.

  • Green Dot Training: The Center for Wellness Promotion is hosting a Green Dot Training from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Popp Martin Student Union, Room 200. Learn to recognize, react and prevent sexual assault, dating violence and stalking. Registration is required through the learning and development portal.
  • HR Power Hour: Human resources is hosting an HR Power Hour webinar at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 23, to inform Charlotte employees about the learning and development portal to engage with and track training opportunities.

The University Career Center recently held its Fall Career Fair with record-breaking results. Nearly 4,400 students and alumni attended the event, 1,000 more than last year. According to Teresa Petty, associate provost for undergraduate education and dean of University College, the energy was electric as participants lined up for entry from the Barnhardt Student Activity Center all the way to the Popp Martin Student Union! More career fairs are scheduled. Visit the University Career Center website for additional information.
