  • Academic Affairs Weekly Digest: Atkins Library will be closed today through Wednesday, Jan. 8, for exhaust fan installations and relocation. Learn more about the closure and other important academic affairs updates in this week’s news digest
  • Safety Reminder: As part of our new safety protocols, buildings will remain on swipe access until classes resume Monday, Jan. 13. Make sure to have your digital or physical 49er ID card with you to swipe into buildings. 
  • Performance Management Update: There are three new updates to the NinerTalent STAKES EHRA Non-Faculty Performance Management Program. Register for the HR Power Hour webinar Wednesday, Jan. 8, and visit the HR website for more details.
  • EHS Training: The annual EHS compliance training was assigned to all University faculty, staff and student workers Friday, Jan. 3. Employees have 45 days to complete the required training, which can be accessed through the Learning and Development Portal.
  • Project Request Deadline: Project requests utilizing year-end funds must be submitted by Wednesday, Jan. 15. Any projects submitted after will not be considered, and such projects must be completed and invoiced by Sunday, June 15. Proposed projects will be evaluated for scope, complexity and material delivery lead times to ensure they can be completed before year end. Email Jeanine Bachtel with questions.

  • Celebrate MLK This Month: All are invited to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy with two January events. Attend the Kingian Life, Legacy and Leadership Panel Thursday, Jan. 16, and show your Niner pride by marching in the 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade Saturday, Jan. 18.
  • TIAA Webinars: TIAA has a variety of educational webinars scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. View the schedule and sign up today.
  • Financial Advisory Session: CAPTRUST Financial Advisors, the independent advisory firm that works on the UNC Retirement Programs, will conduct phone consultations starting Wednesday, Jan. 8. These 45-minute individual advisory sessions include retirement, general financial planning and investment education. Register for a January session.
  • Online Weight Management Program: Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less — a 15-week online program that empowers participants to live mindfully and make choices about healthy eating and physical activity — is free for active members of the North Carolina State Health Plan. Classes start this week.
