Alumni Association Honors Five at Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony

The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association bestowed its 2025 Distinguished Alumni Awards to five outstanding Niners: Terrell Blackmon ’89, Bryan Delaney ’03, Scott Price ’87, Sen. Joyce Davis Waddell ’73 M.A. and Miriam Espaillat ’13 MSW.

  • Women in Data Science Conference: Registration for the School of Data Science’s WiDS Conference closes at noon today, Monday, March 10. The conference takes place on Thursday, March 13, at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Join current and aspiring data scientists for workshops, networking and mentorship opportunities.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m., Sunday, March 16.
  • Women in Data Science Conference: Registration for the School of Data Science’s WiDS Conference closes at noon today, Monday, March 10. The conference takes place on Thursday, March 13, at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Join current and aspiring data scientists for workshops, networking and mentorship opportunities.
  • Free Tax Prep: Members of the UNC Charlotte community who earn $67,000 or less can have their taxes prepared for free through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Book an appointment.
  • Housing Ambassador Applications: Share your love for UNC Charlotte with incoming students by becoming a housing ambassador. Applications for summer and fall 2025 and spring 2026 are due by 11:59 p.m., Sunday, March 16.
  • Mental Health First Aid Training: Mental Health First Aid is a national program that teaches skills to respond to someone struggling with distress or suicidal ideation. The next virtual student training is from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 8.

  • Green Dot Week: Participate in a series of interactive events, part of the Center for Wellness Promotion’s Green Dot Week, from March 17-20.
  • English Student Symposium: The English Graduate Student Association is hosting “Through the Looking Glass: Language, Literature and the Worlds We Create,” starting at 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 28, in the Cone University Center, Room 112. Lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m. for those who RSVP by Tuesday, March 11.
  • Anything That Rolls: Bring your micro-mobility vehicle of choice (e.g., bike, skateboard, scooter, rollerblades) to a campuswide ride that promotes movement, community and sustainability. “Anything that Rolls” is from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, March 21, beginning at light rail’s UNC Charlotte Main Station.
  • Meet Local Businesses: UNC Charlotte’s 2025 Small Business and HUB Expo is less than two weeks away. Attend the vendor fair from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, at CHHS Plaza to meet local businesses that provide a variety of personal and business services.
