Did you know that the Office of Sustainability organizes sustainability in the curriculum workshops for faculty? For the past 10 years, UNC Charlotte faculty have led multi-day workshops to help colleagues collaborate and discover new resources and pathways to incorporate sustainability into their courses. Learn how Kristin Rothrock, senior lecturer in art and art history, is incorporating sustainability concepts and practices into her fundamental art classes.
Get Involved: Earth Month Celebrations

Celebrate Earth Month with on- and off-campus organizations focused on environmental stewardship at the Earth Day Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3, in Belk Plaza.

Get your hands dirty while cleaning up campus during Campus Beautification Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, on Charlotte’s main campus.

Learn about campus sustainability initiatives with tours of green buildings, the Botanical Gardens, the recycling warehouse and more during the Earth Month Tour Series from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesdays, April 1-22.

Join the Office of Sustainability EcoReps for sustainability-themed board games, including Catan: New Energies, Daybreak and Green Monopoly at Earth Month Game Night from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 11, in Norm’s Gameroom.

Reconnect to Nature: Join Pollinator Club Founding Faculty Carrie Wells on Student Garden Day
Niners who make their way to the pollinator gardens on Student Garden Day, Friday, April 18, will be planting alongside Carrie Wells ’22, who helped establish the garden in 2016. She talks about reconnecting with nature and appreciating a disappearing part of our ecosystem.

Earth Club President Lydia Knier Has Promoted Environmental Sustainability Since Day One
Since her freshman year, Lydia Knier has worked in the Office of Sustainability, first as an EcoRep and now as an analyst. Knier, who also serves as the president of Earth Club, talks about her passion for protecting the planet and more.
Sustainability Around Campus

UNC Charlotte’s Dontá L. Wilson Residence Hall has achieved a rating of two Green Globes from the Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes for New Construction program. The evaluation covers environmental sustainability, health and wellness of future tenants and resilient design and practices.
