Veteran employee Yolanda McIwaine has died

Yolanda McIwaine, senior student services specialist in the W.S. Lee College of Engineering, died June 5.

McIwaine, who joined the University in November 1999, supported programming offered by the college’s Office of Student Development and Success, including MAPS, Leadership Academy, WeEngage, EngageME and the Engineering Learning Community.

“She was passionate about her role and always made it a point to ensure that every detail was attended to and that everyone was taken care of. She had an impact on all members of the W.S. Lee College of Engineering community past and present, and she will be missed by many,” said Courtney Smith-Orr, assistant dean of student experience.

A celebration of life will take place at 12:30 p.m., Friday, June 13, at Union Bethel AME, 20676 U.S. Hwy 17 N., Hampstead, North Carolina, with a public visitation beginning one hour prior.
