Alumni-founded Crown Town Compost Goes Full Circle

For the past decade, Kris Steele ’08, ’12 MPA and Eric Theys ’13 have helped build a cleaner, greener Charlotte with Crown Town Compost. Now, they’re taking their composting business to the next level with Crown Town Farm. Read their story.

  • Record Athlete Academics: UNC Charlotte Athletics recorded a combined 3.22 GPA for the spring semester — the highest single semester mark in program history.

  • New Associate Dean: Katie Howell has been appointed associate dean for special collections and university archives for the J. Murrey Atkins Library, effective today, Monday, June 16.
  • Summer Commencement Bell Ringer: The commencement bell ringer is an honorable tradition that recognizes a student who has demonstrated exemplary 49er spirit. Applications for the new summer bell ringer are open, and will close at 11:45 p.m., Sunday, June 29.
  • Welcome New Coaches: C.C. McMahan is taking over as head coach of women’s golf following a season that included a second-placed finish at the AAC Championships. Lacrosse assistant coach Sarah Stagaard will serve as interim head coach following the departure of Clare Short.
  • Login Change for University Apps: Beginning Friday, June 20, logging into VACert and PATH will require your full NinerNET email address. Learn more about this change and view the full migration schedule.
  • AI Helpful Tips: UNC Charlotte is committed to leveraging AI to enhance our academic and administrative work. To ensure ethical and responsible use, review these helpful checklists for both students and staff.
