FM employee Darryl High has died

Darryl High, a member of facilities management, died Saturday, Aug. 30.

High, who previously worked for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 17 years, joined FM’s General Trades Shop in June 2025. His work primarily involved completing general repairs and renovations of campus facilities.

“From my personal experience working with him, Darryl was a tremendous asset to our team,” said John McKinney, a building supervisor in FM’s maintenance operations. “He brought a wealth of knowledge, worked exceptionally well with others and was truly a great person to be around. His positive attitude and professionalism made a lasting impact, and he will certainly be missed.”

A funeral service is scheduled for noon, Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Grier Funeral Service Memorial Chapel, 115 John McCarroll Ave, Charlotte, North Carolina, with a visitation prior at 11:30 a.m.
