Where to watch fireworks in the Charlotte region this 4th of July
Fourth of July weekend lights up the Charlotte region — literally. From lakes to ballparks, there are plenty of spots to catch dazzling fireworks displays this Independence Day Weekend. Here are some firework-viewing locations recommended by members of Niner Nation.
Harrisburg 4th of July Celebration
The Town of Harrisburg’s annual 4th of July celebration features amusements, live music, a parade and two nights of fireworks Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.
Atrium Park – Kannapolis Cannonballer Ballpark
The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are hosting a July 4th Extravaganza at Atrium Health Ballpark. The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 4, with first pitch between the Queen City Corndogs and the Winston-Salem Disco Turkeys. The game will be followed by “the biggest fireworks in the region” and live music. Good views can be seen from the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis.
Lake Norman and Lake Wiley
The Charlotte region’s signature bodies of water, Lake Norman and Lake Wiley, offer great views of firework displays either from a boat or onshore.
Truist Field in Uptown
The Charlotte Knights are hosting the Charlotte’s Stars and Stripes Spectacular at Truist Field in Uptown, Saturday, July 4. The program features a performance from the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra at 7 p.m., followed by a skyshow and fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
Carowinds
Carowinds amusement park is holding three fireworks shows starting approximately at 9:30 p.m., July 3-5.
Mecklenburg County Sportsplex (Matthews)
The Town of Matthews and Mecklenburg County host their annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, July 3. Fireworks launch from the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews at 9:30 p.m. (weather permitting), and the event is free and open to the public.
