Tehia Starker Glass has been appointed assistant provost for faculty success. She began her duties July 1.

Glass is responsible for providing strategic leadership for university-wide initiatives that support faculty well-being, professional development and career progression from recruitment through retirement. She reports to Eric Heggestad, associate provost for faculty affairs.

“Tehia brings incredible energy and passion to serving our faculty,” Heggestad said. “She has deep expertise and a long history at UNC Charlotte of supporting faculty well-being, strengthening our community and helping faculty develop and advance throughout their careers. I am excited to see what she will do in this position.”

In her new role, she will continue leading the center and its work to support faculty across the University.

She also has held leadership positions in the Cato College of Education, where she is a professor of educational psychology and elementary education in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education. Glass is co-founder and co-director of UNC Charlotte’s Self, Systems and Social Transformation Graduate Certificate Program.

“I look forward to celebrating and supporting faculty across campus by championing their well-being, fostering their success as leaders, scholars and instructors, and building upon the legacy of Yvette Huet,” Glass said.

Huet, now dean of the College of Health and Human Services, previously served as executive director of the Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success.

Glass holds a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a master’s degree in educational technology from the University of Northern Iowa and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Bethune-Cookman University.
