A first for Fall Commencement, UNC Charlotte to hold three ceremonies

Winter break is approaching, but the University still has a major celebration to undertake. December is a time to honor the accomplishments of UNC Charlotte graduates, which the University will do during Fall Commencement, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14-15.

This year’s Fall Commencement marks the first time that UNC Charlotte will hold three ceremonies in December, which is a testament to the institution’s exponential growth. More than 3,600 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral candidates will receive degrees, signaling their transition from students to alumni.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, when the University will confer degrees upon undergraduate and graduate students from the Belk College of Business, College of Arts + Architecture and the College of Health and Human Services. (Note, this is an update; the schedule change was due to adverse weather, which required rescheduling exams.)

During the 10 a.m. ceremony Saturday, Dec. 15, the University will award degrees to undergraduate and graduate students from the Cato College of Education, College of Computing and Informatics and the William States Lee College of Engineering. Undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences will receive their degrees at 3 p.m., Saturday.

The Graduate School will hold a hooding ceremony for doctoral candidates at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall.

All commencement exercises will be in Halton Arena, located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.

The Office of University Communications will stream all ceremonies on the web.
