Four graduates among Charlotte Agenda’s 30 Under 30 list
Charlotte Agenda recently released its 2018 Class of 30 Under 30 leaders who are making their impact on the Queen City, and four UNC Charlotte graduates made the list.
Khalia Braswell ’16 is executive director of INTech Foundation Inc. A computer engineer and former user experience engineer at Apple, she is reaching hundreds of African American girls with programs around learning to code. She completed a master’s degree in information technology from UNC Charlotte.
Matthew Kearns ’13 earned a bachelor’s degree in business finance from the University. He is a land acquisition manager for Shea Homes, where he is driving urban infill development in Charlotte, including five-plus townhome projects in the past two years in neighborhoods such as NoDa, Plaza Midwood and Seversville.
Jarron Thomas ’12 completed bachelor’s degrees in economics and sociology from UNC Charlotte. He is vice president of fraud strategy at Bank of America and founder of the Jump Institute. Additionally, he has become a volunteer leader in Charlotte-Mecklenburg School and created a nonprofit organization to help increase kids’ exposure to science, technology, engineering and math.
K.J. VanDerwerken ’12 is an account executive at Movement Insurance and owner of VanDerwerken Properties. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business finance from the University and is considered a rising star at one of the area’s brightest startups.
