New Recycling Composting Pilot Program, 49er Gold Rush 5K and more

DID YOU KNOW?

Paper towels and compostable paper make up about 20% of the waste collected from UNC Charlotte buildings. The Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management have launched a new recycling composting pilot program in the Fretwell Building.

FACULTY & STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS

• The 2025-26 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Competition opens in February 2024. Learn more about applying for prestigious teaching and research opportunities.
• Get started using AI tools like ChatGPT or learn to design and implement engaging group projects in two online workshops, Thursday, Feb. 1.
• Encourage your students to earn a certificate in wellness and resilience. UNC Charlotte graduate and undergraduate students are invited to participate in a free workshop series from the Penn Resilience Program to help them reach their goals, manage stress and strengthen their relationships.

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

• The H.E.L.P. certificate program provides students with non-academic credit for participating in national prevention training opportunities on various health and well-being issues. Complete the registration form on Niner Engage. Questions? Email hwb-helpcert@charlotte.edu.
• The application for Graduate Research Symposium abstract submissions is open through Wednesday, Jan. 31. The symposium, an interdisciplinary graduate student-run conference, will be held Friday, March 22.
• Mental health peer educators are a group of diverse undergraduate and graduate students who support the mission of CAPS by assisting with outreach and community engagement. Apply to join the fall 2024 team by Thursday, Feb. 29!
