Counseling Professor Dana Fakhro Brings Personal Experience to Refugee Mental Health
Counseling professor Dania Fakhro remembers her neighbors in Syria wearing the keys to the homes they had been forced to flee around their necks. Born and raised in Syria, Fakhro witnessed refugees from the region arrive in her home country in droves, seeking safety as gunshots and explosions echoed in the streets many miles away.

- The Center for Teaching and Learning is seeking a faculty member specializing in applying artificial intelligence in teaching and learning to serve as a faculty fellow on generative AI.
- The Student Health Center, located in the Waddell Center for Student Health and Wellbeing, offers COVID and flu vaccines for students, faculty and staff and free at-home COVID tests. Get your vaccines to help protect you and your family.
STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The H.E.L.P Certificate program provides students with non-academic credit for participating in national prevention training opportunities on various health and well-being issues. The registration form is available on Niner Engage. Email questions to hwb-helpcert@charlotte.edu.
- The Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement is hosting a Catawba Nation talk Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Cone Center, Room 113. Catawba Nation will speak on the history, present and future of their people. Light refreshments will be provided.

Famous Toastery will sponsor the ESPN Events’ 2023 bowl game in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Famous Toastery Bowl will be played at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, at the Charlotte 49ers’ Jerry Richardson Stadium and will air on ESPN.
