Niner Nation Gives, a day to celebrate UNC Charlotte
Niner Nation Gives, a worldwide celebration of UNC Charlotte, will be Thursday, April 9.
For 24 hours, starting at 8 a.m. on April 9, members of the Niner Nation will have the opportunity to give back to UNC Charlotte.
“UNC Charlotte continues to have a positive impact on the region, and the entire 49er family can take pride in the accolades and accomplishments of the University,” Chancellor Philip L. Dubois stated. “By coming together during Niner Nation Gives on April 9 and making a gift to UNC Charlotte, Niner Nation members will affirm their belief and pride in the University.”
Across the United States, colleges and universities use “a day of giving” to build community, explained Stacie Young, director of annual giving in the Division for University Advancement.
“Our day of giving will be a powerful 24-hour online fundraising campaign. We believe this effort will serve as an ideal way to better connect alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends to the University. Furthermore, it will help us to grow a culture of philanthropy throughout our 49er community as we come together to ‘give back’ to UNC Charlotte,” Young stated.
Social media and email will drive how the ambassadors (alumni, students and friends of the University) of Niner Nation Gives will reach out to encourage fellow 49ers to join in the April 9 day of giving. Individuals will be able to follow the event on Twitter at #NinerNationGives, Facebook at www.facebook.com/UNCCharlotte and online at ninernationgives.charlotte.edu.
On April 9, there will be a campus event from noon to 2 p.m. on the plaza between the colleges of Education and Health and Human Services. Students can stop by for free food, music and T-shirts and help celebrate the birthday of Norm, the Charlotte 49ers mascot, by making a gift. A faculty/staff event will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Student Union North Patio.
