As the office manager and administrative support associate for the Dean’s Office in the College of Arts + Architecture, Alexander Gomes ’21 works closely with Dean Jose Gamez. Get to know Gomes and what he loves about the University.

The Charlotte 49ers 2024 Hall of Fame class is the first to feature all student-athletes. This year’s honorees are Eddie Basden ’05, men’s basketball; Mac Cozier ’95, men’s soccer; Sharonda Johnson LeBlanc ’07, women’s track and field; William H. Montgomery III ’03, men’s track and field; and Barry Shifflett ’89, baseball.

Did you know?

The Botanical Gardens has officially implemented a surface trail connecting Bonnie Cone’s grave site to Herbert Hechenbleikner’s cabin. This marks the beginning of a journey to make the Botanical Gardens more accessible for those with limited mobility. Grants from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and the North Carolina Science Museums Grant Program as well as money earned from the Botanical Gardens annual plant sales helped fund this effort.

• UNC Charlotte’s 49er Rocketry Club placed third overall in the 2024 NASA Student Launch Competition held at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama . This is the seventh consecutive year the team has placed among the competition’s top three.
• UREC is celebrating International Day of Yoga Friday, June 21, with sessions at 8 a.m. and noon. Register to participate!
