Academic affairs personnel update
Pinku Mukherjee, who has been serving as interim dean of the graduate school, has decided to return to the faculty at the end of the 2024 fall semester to her transformational research investigating how cancer is diagnosed and treated. Lee Gray, senior associate provost, will retire at the end of the 2024-25 academic year after many years of distinguished service to the University.

From his time as Faculty President and interim university librarian in the early 2000s to his time in the Provost’s Office as senior associate provost, he has spent decades of his career working to shape this university and advance our vision of being a globally recognized, emerging top-tier research university that is driving discovery and innovation while advancing student success and engagement in our communities.”
Call for Applications: Dean of the Graduate School
Applications are invited from the UNC Charlotte faculty for the position of dean of the Graduate School. The dean reports to the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs and has primary responsibility for the Graduate School’s programmatic, financial and management operations, including activities and policies that support the University’s strategic goals related to graduate enrollment and student success. The anticipated start date for this position is January 1, 2025.

Call for Applications: Associate Provost for Academic Space and Programs
Applications are invited from the UNC Charlotte faculty for the position of associate provost for academic space and programs. Formerly the position of senior associate provost, the new position will report to the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs and will be a member of the academic affairs senior staff.
The position will collaborate with university leadership and provide direction and oversight for academic affairs space and infrastructure; overseeing aspects of academic programs and program planning; convening the Associate Deans Council; managing student appeals and grievances to the provost; supporting the School of Professional Studies, Office of International Programs, Honors College and Levine Scholars Program; and serving as a liaison to the Academic Integrity Board. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2025, with the expectation of compensated onboarding beginning in Spring 2025.
