University Launches Largest Campaign in History
For the Love of Charlotte builds powerful momentum, achieving remarkable milestones.
With a transformative vision to strengthen both the University and the city it calls home, UNC Charlotte officially launched For the Love of Charlotte on Nov. 16, its largest and most ambitious fundraising campaign in history. The campaign has already reached a major milestone toward its goal of $500 million — securing half of the total. This progress underscores a powerful belief in the University’s mission.
Rooted in Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber’s commitment to deepen the University’s connection to the city and strengthen its role as a driver of innovation, the campaign will support initiatives that drive student success, advance academic and research excellence, and enrich the campus and city’s cultural vibrancy.
"This campaign is about coming together with a shared purpose,” said Gaber. “It’s about transforming UNC Charlotte to better serve our campus community and this dynamic city. The momentum we’ve built demonstrates the power of Niner Nation to unite behind a cause. Together, we’re building something truly lasting.”
Campaign Pillars
For the Love of Charlotte is built on three essential pillars, each designed to elevate UNC Charlotte’s mission and deepen its impact across the University and community.
Student Success & Opportunity
Opening doors through scholarships, hands-on learning and mentorship, this pillar ensures every student has the resources to thrive.
Academic & Research Leadership
Advancing bold academic and research pursuits, this pillar deepens UNC Charlotte’s commitment to addressing critical challenges and driving innovation.
Campus & Community Vibrancy
Transforming athletics facilities, arts and entrepreneurial spaces, this pillar serves to strengthen community bonds and spark creativity across the region.
Campaign CHAIRS
The bold vision of For the Love of Charlotte comes to life through the remarkable leadership and dedication of the campaign chairs: Darla ’83 and Craig ’85 Albert, Kia ’98 and Demond ’97 Martin, David Ravin ’94 and Dontá Wilson ’97.
“For the Love of Charlotte captures the passion behind UNC Charlotte’s impact,” said David Ravin, campaign co-chair. “This isn’t just about a fundraising goal; it’s about opening doors, driving innovation and strengthening our community. We invite everyone to join us in shaping a brighter future.”
"Each of these leaders brings a unique passion for UNC Charlotte and a belief in what we can accomplish together," said Beth Crigler, vice chancellor for the Division of University Advancement. "Their commitment and generosity embody the spirit of Niner Nation, driving us forward toward a future filled with promise and lasting impact."
FORGING A LEGACY
“This is a defining moment for UNC Charlotte — a time to come together and build a legacy that will shape lives, fuel discoveries and strengthen our city,” Crigler continued. “For the Love of Charlotte is a call to everyone who believes in our mission. With every contribution, we’re opening doors for students, creating opportunities and building a University that will stand strong for generations — all for the love of Charlotte.”
