Launched: $500 Million For the Love of Charlotte Campaign
UNC Charlotte has launched its most ambitious campaign to date: For the Love of Charlotte. This $500 million effort is aimed at driving an enduring impact for the Niner community, our university and our city. Here are some highlights:

What you need to know: Faculty and Staff
- Atkins Library Dean Finalist: The public presentation for the first finalist for the dean of J. Murrey Atkins Library is 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the Popp Martin Student Union Theater. Please visit the search website to review the candidate’s CV, and provide feedback by 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5.
- 2025 Summer Research Program: The Office of Undergraduate Research is accepting submissions for faculty project descriptions for the 2025 OUR Summer Research Program.
- Back-to-back American Champs: UNC Charlotte men’s soccer defeated the FIU Panthers 2-1 in overtime Sunday afternoon to secure their second straight American Conference Championship. The Niners punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament and await their seeding.
- Important Retirement Information: The IRS contribution and benefit limits have been updated for 2025 for supplemental retirement plans. View the limits and instructions to enroll or make changes.
- Personal Leave Policy: Human resources is hosting an HR Power Hour webinar at noon, Thursday, Nov. 21, to provide insight into the new personal leave policy.
UNC Charlotte Celebrates International Education Week through Food
UNC Charlotte dining is serving up 10 globally inspired dishes between SoVi and Social 704 to celebrate International Education Week. Campus Executive Chef John Hutchinson talks about the menu and the campus community’s appetite for international cuisine.
- What’s Happening This Week: 27 events focused on film, language, food, culture, history and other international activities.
- Test Your Knowledge: Take this UNC Charlotte International Fun Fact quiz or head to the Popp Martin Student Union Rotunda between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, for a chance to win prizes at “Where in the World Trivia.”

- Graduation pictures needed: We want to celebrate with you by sharing your success and accomplishments. Submit a photo of you in (or with) your cap and gown, and you could be featured in this year’s commencement pre-show.
- Upper Prospector Renovations: Upper Prospector is closing Friday, Dec. 6, for major renovations scheduled for completion in fall 2025. Three new food spots are being added. During renovations, food trucks options will be available.
- Football Stadium Expansion: Check out renderings and learn more about the Charlotte football stadium expansion, which will begin in 2025.
- Study Abroad Applications: The Office of Education Abroad is accepting applications for summer 2025 faculty-led programs. Applications are due Saturday, Feb. 1, and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Niner Waterfall Earns Award: The Professional Grounds Management Society recognized UNC Charlotte’s Niner waterfall with a merit award.

Honors Research Symposium: The Honors College, in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Research, will host the 2024 Honors Research Symposium from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Cone University Center.

- Swipe Out Hunger Week: Meal plan holders may donate up to two meals in the Niner Diners Mobile Ordering App to students experiencing food insecurity, Nov. 17-22.
- Honors Research Symposium: The Honors College, in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Research, will host the 2024 Honors Research Symposium from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Cone University Center.
- Welcome to the Alumni Association, December Grads: Celebrate becoming an official member of the Alumni Association from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at Armored Cow Brewing Co. Don’t miss out on free food, networking, games and door prizes. Registration encouraged.
