Fall Commencement to Celebrate 3,600 Graduates
More than 3,600 students will be recognized with degrees and graduate certificates during Fall Commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14, in Dale F. Halton Arena. Here’s everything you need to know.
- Commencement Parking: PaTS will implement temporary service changes to accommodate parking and transportation needs for Fall Commencement.

- New Football Coach: Head coach of the Mid-American Conference Champion Ohio Bobcats Tim Albin has been named Charlotte’s new head football coach. Albin will officially be introduced at noon, today, Monday, Dec. 9, in the third-floor salons inside Halton Arena.
- Former Niner up for NFL Award: Charlotte football standout Larry Ogunjobi ’16 is the Pittsburgh Steelers’ nominee for the 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
- Annual NinerAlert Tests: The annual tests of the NinerAlert and campus lockdown systems will occur Tuesday, Dec. 17, at approximately 9:30 a.m. and will last for about 10 minutes. You will receive NinerAlerts no matter your proximity to campus. Campus sirens also will be activated. All messages will be marked clearly as test messages.
- Extended Maintenance: OneIT will perform important upgrades between Monday, Dec. 16, and Friday, Dec. 20. Changes include VPN client upgrades, file server migration (H:/S:/J: drives) and Adobe account migration.

- Atkins Closure in January: Atkins Library will be closed Jan. 6-8 for exhaust fan installations and relocation. Item retrieval and interlibrary loan may be delayed during this closure. The virtual reference service will be available via chat and email.

- Honors Research Symposium: Approximately 100 undergraduate students shared their research via oral or poster presentations at the 2024 Honors Research Symposium held Tuesday, Dec. 3.
- Planned Power Outage: Cameron Hall will be without power from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, to install new switchgear and power panels as part of the ongoing second-floor renovation. The planned outage will affect both building power and network connectivity.
- Webinar Series for Charlotte Employees: Register for “Trust Strategies to Drive Commitment and Productivity,” part of the virtual 2024 Webinar Series for Charlotte Employees; it is being offered from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11.
- EHS Training: The annual environmental, health and safety compliance training will be assigned to all University faculty, staff and student workers Friday, Jan. 3. All employees will have 45 days to complete the required training, which can be accessed through the Learning and Development Portal.
- Power Hour: Human resources is hosting an HR Power Hour from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, to review the changes to the EHRA non-faculty performance management cycle and timeline.
- AI Helpful Tip: Review the University’s guidelines and best practices regarding the use of unattended AI bots in Zoom.
