National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research

UNC Charlotte recently was redesignated by the U.S. National Security Agency as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity for Cyber Research through 2030. Charlotte is one of only 93 universities in the U.S. to hold this designation.

  • Academic Affairs Weekly Digest: Learn more about and register for the Zoom, “How to Implement the Quantitative/Data and Engagement across Perspectives Competencies into any Major or Course,” along with other important announcements in this week’s news digest.
  • AI Research Council: A new AI Research Council, composed of representatives from all academic colleges and several administrative units, will evaluate and make recommendations for strengthening the University’s research infrastructure to support the use of artificial intelligence.
  • Supervisors and Managers: Looking to enhance your critical leadership skills as a supervisor and manager? Learn more about human resources’ new certificate program, “LEADing What’s Next,” a cohort-based leadership development curriculum designed specifically for Charlotte supervisors and managers.
  • Nominations Open: The Student Employment Office is accepting nominations through Friday, March 14, for the 2025 Student Employee of the Year Award.
  • 49er ID Reminder: Remember to carry your 49er ID (mobile or physical) on campus as it is your backup credential for entering/exiting gated lots and decks, as well as locked academic buildings and classrooms.

  • Summer Internship Scholarship: Students who have an unpaid summer internship and need financial assistance are encouraged to apply for a Summer Internship Scholarship between Monday, Feb. 17, and Friday, April 11; applicants must have an internship offer.
  • First-Gen Excellence Awards: Applications for the Spring First-Generation Excellence Awards are open through Monday, Feb. 24, for first-generation graduating seniors. Applications are based on self-nominations for the Community Impact and Golden Achievement Academic awards.
  • Free STI, HIV Testing: UNC Charlotte provides confidential and free STI and HIV screening services for students, courtesy of community testing partners as  part of Mecklenburg County’s “Getting to Zero Initiative.” No appointment is needed for testing in the Popp Martin Student Union.
  • Desk Assistant Applications: The 2025-26 desk assistant application is open until 11:59 p.m., Sunday, March 2, on eRezlife. Visit the DA employment webpage for more information on the position and how to apply!

Charlotte Sales Network at Bank of America Stadium

Sixteen members of the Charlotte Sales Network, a student organization that provides Niners with sales career development resources, went to Bank of America Stadium to meet and network with three sales managers. The group toured the facilities, including luxury suites, and learned about the process of managing accounts for professional sports and major events.
