Did ‘The Pitt’ Get it Right? A Social Work Lecturer Weighs In

HBO’s “The Pitt” has been hailed as one of the most realistic portrayals of emergency medicine on TV. Lynn Puma, a lecturer in the School of Social Work within UNC Charlotte’s College of Health and Human Services, watched the show and weighed in on how the series depicted a hospital social worker.

  • Upper Prospector Sneak Peak: Dining Services invites faculty and staff to a first look at the completed Upper Prospector renovation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13. This sneak peek, an exclusive to campus employees, precedes the grand opening Wednesday, Aug. 20.
  • NSF Engines Semifinalists: The University’s Carolinas Engine for Grid Modernization is one of 29 semifinalists in the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Regional Innovation Engines competition.
  • Register to Attend Convocation: This year’s University Convocation will take place at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 14, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Multipurpose Room; please register to attend. The fall faculty meeting will take place immediately following convocation at 10:45 a.m.
