Record-breaking Enrollment, Football and a Concert on Saturday, ‘Iron Phi’ Bikes Across North Carolina and more

UNC Charlotte’s Enrollment Sets Another Record

UNC Charlotte has enrolled 32,207 students for the fall 2025 semester, surpassing the University’s previous record of 31,091 in 2024. This marks the second consecutive year of record-breaking enrollment at the University.

Surging Student Populations: Charlotte’s first-time college students and transfer student population grew to 4,933 and 2,988 students, respectively.
Niner Nation Far and Wide: The student population spans 99 North Carolina counties, 50 states and 128 countries.

Nick Helton, a junior business major and Phi Delta Theta fraternity member, tested his endurance by biking across North Carolina to visit each Phi Delta chapter as part of the Iron Phi Challenge, a national philanthropy initiative that raises money and awareness for ALS research.

Football Traffic and Parking: Campus will be busy Saturday, Sept. 6, for the home opener against the Tar Heels and the Chris Lane ’07 concert. Please note on game days, some campus entrances and parking lots are designated for football traffic and parking only. Football parking permits are required to park in designated lots and resident students may be asked to move their vehicles from football lots.
International Speaker Series: Learn about Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy from Fahad Nazer, official spokesperson for the Embassy of Saudi Arabia from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., today, Thursday, Sept. 4, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 262.
Notice: Transportation devices such as scooters, skateboards and bicycles are prohibited in campus buildings. These devices must be parked outside, as outlined in the PaTS parking ordinance on mobility devices.
urbanCORE Announcement: The work of urbanCORE, UNC Charlotte’s hub for engaged scholarship, is moving under the University’s Urban Institute effective immediately . As part of the Urban Institute, urbanCORE will continue to facilitate community-engaged faculty research and student engagement related to the University’s academic mission.
Staff Council Meeting: The next Staff Council meeting will be held virtually from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10; sign up to attend.
Speak at TEDxUNCCharlotte: Speaker applications are open through Monday, Sept. 15, for the next TEDxUNCCharlotte event on Saturday, Feb. 21.

QPR Training: Question, Persuade, Refer is a 90-minute suicide prevention training that teaches individuals how to recognize the warning signs of suicide. The next virtual student QPR training is from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Charlotte Football hosts North Carolina for its home opener at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at Jerry Richardson Stadium. The kickoff event will begin at 4 p.m. with performances by Austin McNeill ’18 followed by Chris Lane ’07 at 5 p.m. on the Hauser Alumni Pavilion lawn. Your 49er ID is your ticket to the game and the concert. Entry is first-come, first-served, so arrive early.
