Charlotte fall guide: Get into the season on campus and in the area
Monday, Sept. 22, marks the official start of fall. At UNC Charlotte, there are plenty of ways to embrace the season. Whether you’re into pumpkin patches, cozy pop-ups or Halloween thrills, there’s no shortage of autumn-inspired experiences to explore. From student-led festivities to citywide celebrations, here’s your guide to making the most of the season.
Fall Events On Campus
- International Festival: This year’s festival is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, in and around the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.
- Niner Nation Week: Oct. 12-19, the campus will come alive with celebrations, connections and 49er pride for Charlotte’s annual homecoming.
- Fall Plant Sale: Shop seasonal blooms and herbs to bring a touch of fall indoors at the Botanical Gardens Oct. 2-4.
- Halloween Costume-Making Workshop: Brainstorm and create your Halloween costume from reclaimed materials from 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3.

When it comes to favorite fall activities, 35% of students said bonfires/s’mores, and 21% voted for fall festivals and pumpkin patch visits — both earned 21% of the vote.
For faculty and staff, 25% said hiking is their favorite fall activity, while bonfires/s’mores and tailgating/football received 20% of votes.
