Supporting faculty success: Spring Faculty Flourish Week offers connection and professional growth
UNC Charlotte will recognize faculty contributions to learning, research, leadership and community during the inaugural Spring Faculty Flourish Week, March 16 – 20. Sponsored by the Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success, the week focuses on opportunities for faculty to connect with colleagues and explore resources that support their professional growth and well-being. Faculty Flourish Week occurs once in the fall and once in the spring.
The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success promotes faculty success across all stages of the academic career through research and programming on recruitment, reappointment, promotion and tenure practices, mentoring, leadership and career development. Spring Faculty Flourish Week highlights many of these opportunities while creating space for faculty to connect with peers across campus.
The week will include speakers, writing challenges, social events and professional development opportunities.
“It is important for faculty to feel appreciated because of the wonderful things they are doing in their research, teaching, innovation, community engagement and service to move the mission of UNC Charlotte forward,” said Tehia Starker Glass, interim executive director of the Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success and professor in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education. “This is an opportunity to celebrate all faculty, prioritize their well-being and continue to build spaces for community, particularly during these turbulent times.”
Two additional programs following the week will focus on career progression for midcareer faculty: A Faculty Forum for those interested in promotion to full professor and a Recently Tenured Associate Professor Orientation.
