Do you like to shop at a discount? You’re in luck! UNiDAYS is a database of discounts ranging from clothing brands such as American Eagle and Lee to technology and software such as HP and Adobe Creative Cloud. 

Yuliana Ganan, a rising senior, is the 2022-23 recipient of the Yvette M. Huet Sí Se Puede Scholarship. Awarded to a junior or senior undergraduate student who demonstrates a continued commitment to the growth, support and empowerment of Latinx communities, the scholarship is earmarked for those who share this commitment, honor the legacies of those who have come before and will chart new pathways for those to come.

Four UNC Charlotte students recently represented the University during the 2023 Charlotte Racial Justice Consortium’s culminating event, held April 19 at Central Piedmont Community College.

In its third year, the CRJC is a partnership among UNC Charlotte, CPCC, Johnson C. Smith University, Johnson and Wales University’s Charlotte Campus and Queens University of Charlotte.

Hannah Partridge is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences. Learn about her involvement in the Audubon Campus Chapter, her favorite things about UNC Charlotte, and why she enjoys being a Ph.D. student. 

Why did you choose UNC Charlotte?

I chose UNC Charlotte because the program allowed me to pursue research aligned with my interests. I have had the opportunity to take interesting courses, collaborate with great professors and explore research opportunities that I had not previously considered. 

Often, students leave high school unprepared to navigate the ins and outs of planning their financial futures. UNC Charlotte’s response is Niner Finances, a campus department committed to providing 49ers with programming, resources, education and guidance toward establishing and maintaining their financial success.

Mark Mistretta is a second-year junior majoring in biology and interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in health and medical humanities. He founded UNC Charlotte’s Plants for People student organization and was nominated by the University for a 2023 Sustain Charlotte Award. The Faculty Council and Chancellor’s Cabinet recently approved revised dates for the fall 2023 break, which will now take place Monday, Oct. 23, and Tuesday, Oct. 24. The full schedule for fall 2023 is available on the Registrar’s Office website. 

UNC Charlotte loses an average of three football fields of trees per day, through storm damage, disease or construction.

Trees are important to the environment and absorb greenhouse gasses, help improve mental health, house wildlife and cool urban areas in addition to making the campus and city look better.

Faculty, staff and students were asked about their favorite areas around campus. UNC Charlotte may be the state’s urban research university, but there are many beautifully maintained green spaces, gardens, ponds and greenways to admire. Here’s what some employees had to say:
