Levine Cancer Institute president to keynote 11th annual Charlotte Life Sciences Conference

Derek Raghavan, an internationally renowned cancer researcher, medical oncologist and president of the Levine Cancer Institute, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 11th annual Charlotte Life Sciences Conference.

This conference, which will feature cutting-edge research, technology and emerging life science companies in the Charlotte region, will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.  UNC Charlotte and the Charlotte Research Institute are hosting the event, which was previously called the Charlotte Biotechnology Conference.

Raghavan, whose clinical and research interests are focused on genitourinary cancer, cancer in the elderly, anti-cancer drug discovery and development and comparative human oncology, currently serves on the external advisory boards of four cancer centers and on the editorial boards of numerous medical journals. He also has been a principal investigator for more than a dozen major research grants and has published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed professional journals. He has edited nine books, too.

This 11th annual conference conference will provide insight from some of the most recognized biotechnology, business and research professionals from around the globe, in addition to highlighting regional opportunities and investment trends within the local biotechnology sector.
