‘To Write Love on Her Arms’ founder to visit

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

The UNC Charlotte chapter of “To Write Love on Her Arms” will welcome organization founder Jamie Tworkowski on Tuesday, April 2, as he presents “Pain, Hope, Questions and Community” at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Movie Theater.

Tworkowski founded “To Write Love on Her Arms” (TWLOHA) in 2006. The organization’s mission is to build support for young people who suffer from depression, addition, self-injury and suicidal tendencies. What began as a simple attempt to tell the story of a friend in need of treatment has grown into a global movement and online phenomenon.

UNC Charlotte’s TWLOHA chapter was founded in August 2012. Both chapter president Olyvia Moriarty and vice president Samantha Pugsley met Tworkowski during a previous visit to the University.

“Jamie is such an inspiration,” Moriarty said. “I'm so excited for the new University chapter and the campus to have this opportunity to hear him speak and further spread the message of TWLOHA."

The UNC Charlotte Campus Activities Board is sponsoring this free, public event.
