Eighth annual Multicultural Play Therapy Center Conference scheduled

The UNC Charlotte Multicultural Play Therapy Center and Office of Educational Outreach in the College of Education will hold its eighth annual conference Monday, June 23, through Thursday, June 26.

According to Phyllis Post, director of the Multicultural Play Therapy Center, this event is an opportunity for professional and school counselors, social workers, psychologists and students to learn about play therapy and earn up to 24 continuing education credits.

Conference topics will include sessions on animal-assisted play therapy, parent-child relationships, working with angry boys, group play therapy and play therapy supervision.

In addition to Post, conference presenters will be Peggy Ceballos, an assistant professor in the University’s Counseling Department in the College of Education; David Crenshaw, clinical director of the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and faculty associate at Johns Hopkins University; Theresa Kascsak, an assistant professor of Pfeiffer University who has worked as a professional counselor and play therapist; and Risë  VanFleet, founder of Family Enhancement and Play Therapy Center and its Playful Pooch Program in Boiling Springs, Penn.
