The UNC Charlotte Urban Institute has been accepted into the National Neighborhood Indicator Partnership (NNIP), which is a collaborative effort by the Washington D.C.-based Urban Institute and local partners to further the development and use of neighborhood information systems in local policymaking and community building.
Membership in the network opens participation in conferences and other learning opportunities as well as participation in cross-site research projects.
The UNC Charlotte Urban Institute, along with the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, were accepted as collaborative partners and together will represent the Charlotte community.
Collaboration among those partners on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Quality of Life Study and the recent merger of the Institute for Social Capital with the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute were factors that led to Charlotte’s addition to this national network.
Formed in 1995, the NNIP learning network consists of 47 organizations in 35 U.S. cities; it has received support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, among others.
