Annual Giving Green Campaign kicks off Oct. 1
Come one, come all to UNC Charlotte’s Giving Green Campaign Kickoff, which will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Plaza.
A free, carnival-style luncheon (ticket required) and remarks from the 2014 Giving Green ringmasters Darin Spease, senior associate athletic director, and Michele Howard, director of the Early College Program, and Chancellor Phil Dubois are on the program, along with prize drawings for faculty and staff who choose to contribute to one of the Giving Green beneficiaries – the Arts & Science Council (ASC), the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) or the UNC Charlotte Foundation.
Participants will be able to walk the Giving Green Midway to learn more about the many nonprofit organizations that benefit from employees’ contributions. The Emergency Loan Fund Bake Sale will have sweet treats with proceeds supporting a fund that provides assistance to faculty and staff members. Established in 2009, the Employee Loan Fund provides active University workers an alternative to borrow money for short-term emergency situations; it is administered by the Human Resources Department and the Controller’s Office.
Register to attend online by Monday, Sept. 29. Lunch tickets will be sent via campus mail. This ticket must be presented to enjoy lunch at the Oct. 1 kickoff extravaganza.
Giving Green is the University’s centralized, unified and streamlined fundraising campaign for ASC, SECC and the UNC Charlotte Foundation. Prior to 2010, University employees were solicited separately to donate to these causes.
During the campaign, University faculty and staff members have the opportunity to provide financial support to any or all of the Giving Green beneficiaries through a one-time donation or a gift via payroll deduction, which takes the amount from each paycheck throughout the calendar year starting in January.
