The Continuing Education Office and PORTAL are offering an encore of “Becoming Social Security Savvy” at noon, Tuesday, Nov. 18, in PORTAL Building, Room 242.

For many individuals who are approaching retirement, the decisions of when and how to claim Social Security benefits may prove to be challenging. Social Security represents a major source of income for retirees and choosing an optimal claiming strategy can be a difficult task for those who do not understand the system. Being educated and informed about the benefits provided by Social Security is one way to ensure you make an informed election of benefits.

This free, one-hour course on Nov. 18 will help participants gain:

  • A clear understanding of how monthly Social Security income changes based on the age at which one claims
  • Strategic ideas for maximizing personal Social Security benefits
  • Insight on how to incorporate Social Security into a comprehensive retirement income strategy

Registration is required, and the October session filled up fast. Click here for more information and to register. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch.
