‘Give Green in the Community’ during National Volunteer Week
Faculty and staff members can continue “Giving Green in the Community” by participating in a number of projects planned for National Volunteer Week, April 13-18. These projects, coordinated by the Community Relations Department in the Division for University Advancement, involve two- to four-hour commitments in the morning or afternoon.
During National Volunteer Week, employees can support projects at the Second Harvest Food Bank, McCrorey and Johnston YMCAs, the Humane Society of Charlotte, Crisis Assistance Ministry, SOW Much Good. Employees also can participate in the Campus Clean-up activities.
All permanent employees receive 24 hours of annual community leave, and National Volunteer Week activities are a great way to give back to the Charlotte community, bond with fellow employees and learn more about regional nonprofit organizations, said Jeanette Sims, director of community relations.
