University cosponsoring fixed income conference

UNC Charlotte and the University of South Carolina will hold a conference on fixed income securities on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, at UNC Charlotte Center City.

The 2015 Fixed Income Conference will feature experts presenting the latest information and research on fixed income securities.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Richard Cantor, chief risk officer for Moody’s Corporation and Chief Credit Officer for Moody’s Investors Service
  • Charlie Himmelberg, global head of credit and mortgage strategy research and partner at Goldman Sachs
  • Steven Ott, dean of the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte and the John Crosland Sr. Distinguished Professor of Real Estate and Development
  • Michael Piwowar, U.S. Securities and Exchange commissioner (SEC), appointed by President Obama

Tao-Hsien Dolly King, chair of the Department of Finance in the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte, said the conference will offer the latest information to the Charlotte business community.

“This is a timely topic for our economy. The banking industry is heavily involved as either the issuer or the buyers of fixed-income securities, so having a really active and healthy fixed income markets is extremely vital for the banking industry, financial services and insurance companies,” King said.

The conference begins at 8:15 a.m. April 17 with breakfast and registration and ends at 1 p.m. April 18 after lunch. Registration for both days is $250 for the general public or $100 for academic participants.
