Oct. 2 Charlotte 49ers football game to alter campus operations
The Charlotte 49ers football game against Temple University scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, in Richardson Stadium, will be televised, and University leaders anticipate a large crowd for this event. Traffic is expected to increase significantly in the early afternoon as thousands of fans arrive for the game.
The University will observe the following plan for the Oct. 2 game day:
CLASSES AND LABS
Classes are not canceled when the University is required to host weekday football games.
Faculty and students are responsible for all required hours, and faculty should make alternative arrangements for classes and labs scheduled on the main campus after 12:30 p.m., since classroom and lab facilities will not be available. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, is designated as an optional date for faculty who wish to reschedule an in-class meeting day.
This change does not apply to programs and classes offered at UNC Charlotte Center City.
For more details, refer to the University’s Academic Procedure: Schedule Interruption Guidelines.
Direct questions to the Office of the Provost.
PARKING CLOSURES
To accommodate parking needs for the 7 p.m. game, the following parking areas will be CLOSED from midnight on Thursday, Oct. 1, to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at which time the lots will be open for football permitted vehicles only.
- Lots 7, 7A, 18, 19, 23, 25 and 27 (click here for parking map)
- Cone Decks 1 and 2 (Upper Levels – Visitor Parking)

The following parking decks and lots will remain open all day and are recommended as parking alternatives:

Contact the Office of Parking and Transportation Services at 704-687-0161 with any parking-related questions.
CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OPERATIONS
The campus will be open Friday, Oct. 2, and departments should ensure that offices are staffed adequately during the core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Departments with second and third shift operations should anticipate staffing needs and challenges for second shift workers who report to work Oct. 2.
Supervisors are encouraged to be flexible in allowing staff to use leave time, compensatory time and/or alternative work-from-home arrangements when feasible. Consider flexible scheduling during the week that might reduce the need for as many staff on campus Friday afternoon.
For questions about staff working arrangements, consult Gary Stinnett (704-687-0644) or Jeanne Madorin (704-687-0659) in the Human Resources Department.
