Fall commencement – the world was watching
Saturday’s two commencement ceremonies were streamed live to an international audience, and people around the world tuned in to watch. According to Web analytics, there were 6,814 unique viewing locations in 65 countries, including the United States.
“UNC Charlotte’s has a large international student population, so when it comes to graduation, they have lots of family and friends who were unable to travel to see the ceremonies in Halton Arena,” said Stephen Ward, executive director of the Office of University Communications. “Our goal in providing a live stream of the ceremonies was to extend the campus’s reach globally and let everyone share in the joys of being a Niner Nation graduate.”
India and Saudi Arabia had the largest number of unique viewing locations internationally (3,453 and 334, respectively), but the United States had nearly 2,300.
This year’s unique viewer locations were more than double compared to fall 2014.
