U.S. News ranks part-time MBA among nation’s top programs
UNC Charlotte’s Belk College of Business made big gains in the part-time MBA rankings by U.S. News and World Report, placing among the top 20 percent of all business schools nationwide.
The Belk College’s part-time MBA jumped 27 spots in the 2017 “Best Graduate Schools” rankings released Wednesday, landing at No. 59 among national universities and No. 35 among public schools. UNC Charlotte tied at No. 59 with 7 other schools including University of Connecticut, University of Richmond, and University of Colorado-Boulder.
This ranking is the third time UNC Charlotte has placed among top programs nationally and internationally in the past six months. Earlier in 2016, the Belk College’s MBA was ranked a “Tier 1” program by CEO Magazine, shortly after being named the No. 20 part-time MBA in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek in October.
“Recognition of our program as one of the leading part-time MBA programs in the country is a testament to the great strides our students, faculty, staff and alumni are making together,” said Belk College Dean Steven Ott.
The U.S. News and World Report rankings are calculated based on responses by business school deans and MBA directors, as well as students’ GMAT scores, work experience and undergraduate GPAs. This year’s rankings were determined based upon statistical surveys sent to 1,900 graduate programs administrators and from reputation surveys sent to more than 18,400 academics and professionals in the disciplines. The surveys were conducted during the fall of 2015 and in early 2016.
Based at UNC Charlotte Center City, the University’s MBA program enrolls more than 300 students. UNC Charlotte’s MBA program offers the flexibility to complete the degree full-time in less than 17 months or part-time in as little as two years. With concentrations in such thriving industries as energy, commercial banking, real estate finance and business analytics, students can design an individualized program that realizes their professional goals.
