Shuttle service to operate during summer sessions

The Parking and Transportation Services Office (PaTS) will provide modified shuttle service during first and second summer sessions. The summer shuttle will operate internally using SafeRide evening transportation vans.

Shuttle service will be:

  • Summer I: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, May 23, to Wednesday, June 29
  • Summer II: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, through Wednesday, Aug. 10

Summer shuttle service will cover the same route and stops as the Red and Green lines do during fall and spring semesters.* (Green Line connects South Village and North Campus to campus core; Red Line goes cross-campus, from Parking Lot 6 at John Kirk and Cameron to East Decks, Student Union and CRI.) Summer shuttle route and service stops.

After 6 p.m., SafeRide evening service will take over, returning to the established campus loop.

Helena Connors, transportation manager, said, “This is a pilot program in response to requests from students and the Office of Disability Services.”

PaTS Director Doug Lape added that operating a shuttle during the summer “will help as we gear up for light rail in August of 2017.”

Regular campus shuttle service, operated by the Charlotte Area Transit System, will resume Monday, Aug. 22.
