Reinken named University’s Title IX coordinator
Michelle Reinken has joined UNC Charlotte’s Division of Institutional Integrity as the University’s Title IX coordinator following a national search. She previously served as associate director of student conduct in the University’s Dean of Students Office.
As Title IX coordinator, Reinken will lead the Title IX Office in its mission to promote a safe and healthy campus environment through compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE).
“Michelle is talented, determined and cares deeply about our students,” said Jesh Humphrey, UNC Charlotte’s vice chancellor for Institutional Integrity and general counsel. “She has been an invaluable campus partner since she arrived in 2016, and her experience and leadership will reinforce and enhance the efforts of the fantastic team of dedicated professionals in the Title IX Office.”
Reinken began her career in student affairs while serving as a residence director at Westminster College in Pennsylvania. She served as the assistant director for residential education and services and subsequently was assistant director for judicial affairs and Title IX officer at Concordia University in Irvine, California. She also served as a residential life coordinator at the University of California, Irvine, prior to joining UNC Charlotte.
Reinken earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a concentration in leadership for higher education following defense of her dissertation that focused on Title IX litigation involving colleges and universities. She also completed a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Arts in Higher Education with a concentration in student affairs administration.
