The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation will host its annual Great Gold Rush Auction Saturday, June 1, in Halton Arena.
This event is the largest single-day fundraiser held by the foundation; proceeds benefit the University’s athletic scholarship fund.
Matthew Johnson, a doctoral student in computer science in the College of Computing and Informatics, will defend “Exploring the Visualization of Student Behavior in Computer-based Education” at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, in Woodward Hall, Room 338. Tiffany Barnes is the dissertation advisor.
E.E. Balcos and John Allemeier from the College of Arts + Architecture joined Meg Whalen on the May 9 installment of “The Live Wire” to discuss “Deep Water: The Murder Ballads” that will be performed May 31 at the Knight Theater.
Graduate student Tammie Rosser recently teamed up with Charlotte Housing Authority and Studio 345 to create an intergenerational storytelling project.
According to Rosser, who is working on a master’s degree in gerontology, the project was designed to bring older adults together with youth to share their experiences and talents across generations.
UNC Charlotte will honor former trustee Ruth Shaw for her support of education, her corporate leadership and her commitment to the community during the University’s spring commencement on Saturday, May 11. She will receive an honorary Doctor of Public Service.
