The power of President Barack Obama’s words will be the focus of the first of four Personally Speaking Lecture Series for the 2012-13 academic year. This talk is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at UNC Charlotte Center City.

Since its completion in 1963, the Cone University Center has been a gathering place for students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and guests. As such, it is fitting that the facility bears the name of Bonnie Ethel Cone, the beloved mathematics teacher and visionary administrator who, perhaps more than anyone else, is credited as UNC Charlotte’s founder.

The UNC Charlotte Department of Dance will present its annual faculty concert at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14-15, in the Anne R. Belk Theater of the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts. This year’s program “Love, Death, and Naked Turtles” features works by department faculty members Gretchen Alterowitz and E.E. Balcos.
