Homecoming 2019: A time to show ‘We are all Niners’
Niner Nation is gearing up for a spirit-filled Homecoming week, starting Sunday, Sept. 22. With all the events and programs scheduled, there is something for everyone—students, alumni, faculty and staff.
UNC Charlotte’s annual Homecoming football game is set for Saturday, Sept. 28, as the Charlotte 49ers take on the Owls of Florida Atlantic at 3:30 p.m. in Jerry Richardson Stadium. Before the game, alumni and friends are invited to the annual Homecoming/Oktoberfest tailgate, hosted by the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association.
The Habitat for Humanity Homecoming Build will be Tuesday, Sept. 24, through Friday, Oct. 4. Construction will take place on the UNC Charlotte campus at the corner of University City Boulevard and John Kirk Drive, and the home will be moved to a permanent location once it is 50 percent complete. Faculty, staff and student volunteer groups will be split into two shifts daily (8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.), except Sunday and Monday.
Sponsored by the Homecoming Committee, the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association and the Campus Activities Board (CAB), Homecoming events are listed below. Tickets are required for some events.

Homecoming Happy Hour with Coach Healy

This free event will feature remarks from Head Football Coach Will Healy and delicious hors d’oeuvres! Each guest will receive a complimentary drink ticket and raffle ticket upon entry. Raffle prizes include a signed football helmet by the 2019 49ers football team and so much more!
Homecoming Spirit Cup Lip Sync Battle

“The Eternal Present of Sport: Rethinking Sports and Religion”
UNC Charlotte Center City, 6 p.m.
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences’ Personally Speaking series kicks off its 10th season with Daniel Grano, a faculty member from the Communication Studies Department. In his talk, he will explore the importance of religious images and ideas in contemporary sport controversies, including performance enhancement, the head trauma crisis and pay-for-play in collegiate athletics.

Top 10 Under Ten Awards

Hosted by the UNC Charlotte Young Alumni Chapter, the second annual 10 Under Ten Awards ceremony will recognize and spotlight accomplished UNC Charlotte young alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years. Tickets are $25 per person.
