After being deployed on active duty in Afghanistan, Master of Social Work student Cody Walker returned home with mental wounds he says are still healing. Now, with the backing of UNC Charlotte and the Commander F.M. (Mike) Reynolds Veterans Scholarship, he is moving on his own road to recovery by helping fellow veterans navigate theirs.
UNC Charlotte continues to serve America’s veterans. The University, founded in 1946, was one of several educational institutions established following World War II to meet the new demands for higher education and provide unprecedented opportunities fueled by the GI Bill, which gave thousands of returning veterans historic access to higher education.
