Psychology professor Kimberly Buch is one of five finalists for the 2013 Bank of America (BofA) Award for Teaching Excellence – UNC Charlotte’s top teaching honor. This year’s recipient will be announced at a reception scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20. Inside UNC Charlotte will feature each finalist in alphabetical order prior to the reception.
The Student Union Gallery will host the exhibit “Monuments” through Wednesday, Sept. 18. The display features work by Lydia Goldbeck, a UNC Charlotte alumna.
According to Goldbeck, she hopes to captivate viewers with a sense of intimacy through her confrontational pieces created through raw and unpolished surfaces.

Kyle Kreth, a doctoral student in computing and information systems in the College of Computing and Informatics, will defend “Studies on Correlated Mutations Algorithms of Proteins Providing Structural, Spatial and Allostery Information from Multiple Sequence Alignments” at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the Bioinformatics Building, Room 105. The UNC Charlotte Solar Decathlon 2013 team recently celebrated the completion of its competition house “UrbanEden” with a media preview and open house. The events, which attracted a large crowd, took place at UrbanEden’s construction site at the University’s Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC).
