UNC Charlotte joins White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge

UNC Charlotte joins White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge
Thursday, June 10, 2021

Furthering its commitment to ensuring students, faculty and staff have information and access to the COVID-19 vaccine, UNC Charlotte is participating in the White House and Department of Education’s COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge.

The challenge was created in an effort to help the United States reach at least a 70% COVID-19 vaccination rate among eligible adults by July 4. By partnering with colleges and universities nationwide, the White House and the Department of Education hope to reach more young adults and ensure access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

As part of the challenge, participating colleges and universities across the country are committing to three key actions to help get their campus communities protected from COVID-19:

  • Engage every student, faculty and staff member to make sure the campus community knows they are eligible for the vaccine and has resources to find one

  • Organize the college community, leading the way by identifying champions for vaccination efforts across campus and implementing a plan to get as many members of the college community vaccinated as possible

  • Deliver vaccine access to all, bringing vaccines on-site and making it easier for students, faculty and staff to get vaccinated at sites near them this summer

This announcement follows UNC Charlotte’s efforts in maintaining a safe and healthy campus environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the Niner Nation Cares website to locate a vaccine clinic site.

Already have your shot? Let us know

If you have already received the COVID-19 vaccine, let the University know through the  COVID-19 vaccine reporting form. Those who receive the vaccination and submit the reporting form with the appropriate documentation will be exempt from completing the daily Niner Health Check and the requirement to participate in random mitigation testing.

Those who submit documentation of their vaccination by June 15, 2021, will be entered to win one of several prizes, including your choice of a free parking permit for the upcoming academic year or $500 on your 49er ID card.
