The Office of Legal Affairs will host a fall faculty symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center, Salon B.
Topics tentatively scheduled include “Classroom Policies and Practices: The Legal Context,” “Students of Concern” and “IP Primer.”
Charlotte 49ers student-athletes, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will host their annual Sept. 11 Memorial Blood Drive from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept.5, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. The Human Resources Department has announced the Staff Recognition Luncheon, traditionally held in the fall, will move to Monday, March 31, and the breakfast to honor early morning/night shift staff will be Tuesday, April 1.

U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson (’96) visited his alma mater, UNC Charlotte, recently as part of his August recess from Congress. He wanted to learn more about the University’s role in advanced manufacturing.
Niner Nation fans will be able to watch the Charlotte 49ers first official football season live at the Student Union. All home games will be aired in Norm's and the Union's movie theater this fall; WCCB Charlotte will broadcast the games. The station has a three-year deal with media rights holder IMG College to air available home football games.
Psychology professor Kimberly Buch is one of five finalists for the 2013 Bank of America (BofA) Award for Teaching Excellence – UNC Charlotte’s top teaching honor. This year’s recipient will be announced at a reception scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20. Inside UNC Charlotte will feature each finalist in alphabetical order prior to the reception.
The Student Union Gallery will host the exhibit “Monuments” through Wednesday, Sept. 18. The display features work by Lydia Goldbeck, a UNC Charlotte alumna.
According to Goldbeck, she hopes to captivate viewers with a sense of intimacy through her confrontational pieces created through raw and unpolished surfaces.

Recognizing this, Assistant Dean of the Graduate School and Director of the Center for Graduate Life, Dr. Hall-Hertel, developed the Graduate Life Fellow (GLF) program and has been with it since its initiation in 2008.
