As a result of unforeseen personal circumstances, Brian Trent will not assume his duties as the new vice chancellor for business affairs (VCBA) at UNC Charlotte effective Aug. 30. He informed Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber of his decision this week.
“I want Niner Nation to know how much I appreciate everyone who made me feel at home during my visits to campus and who had already reached out to welcome me to my new role, '' said Trent. “This was my dream job, but right now, the needs of my family must come first.”
Interim Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs Larry Kelley will remain in his role through December while plans for a new search for the permanent replacement are made.
“We are disappointed Brian is unable to join our campus community as expected, but we certainly support him in this decision. We wish him and his family all the very best,” said Gaber. “I am grateful to Larry for his ongoing leadership during this time.”
